Wednesday in front of the legislative building, the North Carolina Chapters of the National MS Society joined with a group of pro-consumer health care advocates announcing the forming of a new coalition, Citizens for Responsible Health Care (CRHS). WRAL provided live coverage of the press conference as CRHS spokesperson, Abby Emanuelson of the National MS Society, spoke on behalf of the new coalition in support of an insurance market or health benefits exchanges that will provide valuable coverage to families. The exchanges can play a significant role in establishing a basic infrastructure that provides for meaningful choice and competition to contain costs and stabilize coverage for all North Carolinians. Secondly, the exchanges should be credible and independent to function as a marketplace for high-value coverage that is transparent, accountable, and responsible to consumers’ needs.
