What is World MS Day?

World MS Day is a day dedicated to raising awareness about multiple sclerosis, a disease that affects more than two million people globally. On May 26, 2010, events will be taking place globally in order to show support for multiple sclerosis and raise awareness. In conjunction with World MS Day, the NC Carolina Chapters of the National MS Society will be holding E-Advocacy Day on May 26, 2010 to raise awareness about the employment issues associated with multiple sclerosis. Web hosting of e-MS Advocacy Day will begin Tuesday, May 25. An action alert message and directions to participate will be sent to all North Carolina MS Activists and posted on the NC Chapters' websites. Get your computers ready to advocate for people living with MS. On May 26, please join us in asking NC legislators to support a budget that enhances employment opportunities for people with MS by asking them to:

  • Continue with full implementation of the Ticket to Work, Medicaid Buy-In Program.
  • Maintain funding levels within the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation to ensure people with disabilities get the employment counseling and accommodations needed to stay in the workforce.
  • Our final request will be asking for support for the NC House Resolution honoring past disability advocates and the 20th Anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (an Act that guarantees major employment protections for people living with disabilities)
